It's too hot on the surface for most of the year, and when the temperature is cooler, it's rainy. Most people take the train or a taxi. I had been sealed into that shuttle for so long, though; I wanted to walk. Three miles in, this started to feel like a mistake. I hadn't seen another person for over an hour, and the monotony of the tunnel was triggering hallucinations. I hoped they were hallucinations anyway. I'd rather believe the voices were a result of my own deteriorating sanity than to accept the implications if real. I hastened my steps.
