He ran. Fast. Feet pounding, breath ragged. The silence felt wrong—no echoes, no footsteps. Just the hum of danger. His phone buzzed: They know where you are. Damn. He veered left, heart slamming. No exit. Just walls, whispers, and a clock ticking inside his head. Sixty seconds to vanish. He scanned the corridor—nothing but shadow and tile. Then, a door. Slightly open. He dove through, landing hard. Darkness swallowed him. He pressed his back to the wall, breath shallow. Somewhere nearby, a voice whispered his name. Not yelling—whispering. That was worse. He hadn’t escaped, just gone deeper.
