The newest prince of the forest was bolder than his predecessors. He would often stand at the forest's edge and stare in our direction for an uncomfortably long time. We would bow our heads as we passed, pausing a moment to pay our respects, but as the days wore on, we could feel the weight of his judgment in his stare. But progress must be made, and building requires timber, so we sharpened our axes and headed out each day. Finally, one day old Jack picked up his musket and announced that it was time for a new forest prince.
