"Ah shit, it's Pedal Pete. Don't look behind you." So of course she immediately looks. Why do people do that? "Who's Pedal Pete?" "Oh for... he's seen us. He's coming over." "Who's Pedal Pete?" "He owns the local bike shop. Literally his entire personality is just talking about bicycles." "I like bicycles." "I know you think you do." I stood up, nodded at Pete, who was getting uncomfortably close to conversation range, already in hailing distance. I drained my beer in one gulp. "I hope you enjoy hearing about gearing ratios for the next hour... I'll be at the bar."
