Jackal's 100-word story for June 3, 2025

Jackal wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 3, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

The lights started flickering around the time we were on our way out. We made our way through the crowd. A few moments passed before we saw the strange men with the even stranger glasses. They surrounded us. They just stood there, smiling. The lights stopped flickering and only the accent lights remained on. Now we could see them. Each one the same. Not just the same hat and glasses but exactly the same. Eight exactly the same men surrounded us, with huge grins. The lights flickered once more and when the lights came back on, the men had vanished.
