magisternihil's 100-word story for June 4, 2025

magisternihil wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 4, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

I know what you’re thinking. It’s undignified to stand here with this filthy animal and try and maintain some sort of presence, some feeling of regality that should be due my kind. To think that I’ve seen the world, traveled freely with only my heart to guide me, studied the cosmos as I gaze at the stars, contemplated the very meaning and purpose of this universe we all find ourselves in. And now I sully myself by choosing to stand on this ridiculous statue of some ugly human. I can’t explain it. It’s not even a real book, you know.
