Reiko was pregnant. No excitement, no support. Reiko was a Courtesan in one of the largest brothels in Yoshiwara. Pregnancy, naturally, was a death sentence if the news spread. There was only one thing she could do to save her unborn child - erasing its existence from this world. At the dead of night on a new moon, Reiko hid a breathing bundle of white cloth in her sleeve, dashing through the bustling Red light district to get to the river outside of town. She placed her baby on the riverside temple’s doorstep, wrapping a blonde doll head within the blanket.
