Hide's 100-word story for April 11, 2025

The typewriter at the antique store was rusty. That didn’t stop my 6-and-a-half-year-old popsicle-sticky fingers from click-clacking the keys as loud as I could. The “ding!” that randomly rang out was a dopamine rush to my tiny brain. “I wouldn’t do that, little boy,” the old wrinkly woman at the register said. “Those machines are tricky.” I looked for my parents, who were arguing by the lamps. Back to typing. Click-clack. Ding! The heavy covering slammed down. A sickening splat followed by a splattering of blood hit the ground. That’s the story of how I ended up with nine fingers.
