Hide's 100-word story for April 18, 2025

Hide wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 18, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

“I wasn’t inspired by today’s hectalex prompt,” I pondered, “but I need to keep my streak going.” The rain thrummed against the glass in agreement. The neon signs across the road whined to life, advertising dancing women, booze, hot donuts. Things that normally, I’d never say no to, but at the moment I was trapped. Trapped! Taunted, by all the distractions around me. A nap that called my name. An Instagram notification. I was a modern day Tantalus, my only crime being procrastination. But 8:00 pm was coming, and the hectalex restarts then. And I can’t lose my streak.
