It’s beautiful day out. Clear waters, clear skies. Eagles perched on the cliffs. Turkey paninis and cold beer in the cooler. And my husband’s dismembered body in the passenger seat. I call it self defense. He would call it funny, little ol’ me getting mad enough to finally grab my peashooter from the safe. It wasn’t always like this, the screaming and cheating and dismembering. We’ve had so many picnics on these shores. I thought maybe we could have one more. I owed him that much. Then after, the eagles can have a picnic too. My husband always loved birdwatching.
