Alexis considered using her coat sleeve to wipe the ice off the lenses, but they looked like alien flowers covered in frost like that, and it was more interesting than anything she might have seen through them. The view was obscured by a bunch of tall plants, anyway. Alyssa and Derek were breaking the ice off the one next to her with gloved fingers, wiping the lenses, and Keith, always the china shop's resident bull, was cursing, trying to force a quarter into the frozen slot. How much beauty, she wondered, had they destroyed in the search for something else?
