thaopixelpoet's 100-word story for June 10, 2025
thaopixelpoet wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 10, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Day 15. Frostbite. Negative 68° Fahrenheit. Still no sign of another human being. My only friend is this coined viewfinder, Charlie. Well, I hardly call Charlie a "friend" - he'll charge me by the minute. Just like my divorce lawyer. Diane and I had spent all seven of our medical school years and thirty-six more diligently raising our two beautiful mixed children. When you're in your twenties, in love, and thought burning the midnight oil memorizing cell structures by heart to pass the test and be in the advanced class together was "love wins all", you are in for a disappointment.
