Summer days lounging by the lake thankful for the occasional breeze sweeping across the water cooling the sweat on our changing bodies laughing voices shouting challenges crying out for recognition for some acknowledgement that they are part of the crowd allowed in belonging flips through the air the cool embrace of the water the untested depths reaching out below us tangled roots the legend of the drowned kid told by the crackling logs of the campfire later that night to haunt out dreams until the next hot day when fear will be overcome by the need to cool off again
