Time was you could get an apartment for a couple hundred dollars a month, and it was usually big enough that you could take on a roommate if things got tough, but now? Take the last place I looked at. It was little more than a hallway with appliances along one side and a built in shelf on the other, and a small place for a bed. And the bathroom? You had to go OUTSIDE on a fire escape and climb up some stairs. I suppose you could leave the door open and people watch if you wanted, but still…
