Heights render my knees inoperable though I know I am on sound ground my brain cannot convince my legs to agree they lock imprison me victim to the thing I fear the most that no matter how hard I cling it will all give way and I will fall air rushing past my ears as the earth rushes to meet me consume me in a sudden percussive embrace and witness my demise whispering in my ear as I fight for breath "Why did you climb?" And I stare at the sky and know I was never meant to reach it
