Napster's 100-word story for April 21, 2025
Napster wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 21, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
The vultures watch me, mostly silent, with the occasional flap of their wings or squawk to assert their position on a branch. All to observe me, like I'm a Thanksgiving turkey, roasting for hours, with hungry guests peering through the oven window. I lay, curled up, under a thorny nest of shrubs, which offers little relief from the sun. Over the past half hour, clouds have started rolling in. They are white, fluffy, rather than dark and ominous, telling me that although I have miles to walk tonight, I will arrive safely. A vulture squawks, as if mocking the thought.
