joeislove's 100-word story for June 20, 2025

joeislove wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 20, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Abby craves the abyss. She longs for the screams of the damned, the rivers of molten sulphur that burn everything away. Nobody at the bank where she works as a Senior Account Manager know any of this. In meetings where she has to mention a fun fact about herself, part of the silly corporate ice-breaking rituals, she is most likely to make something up on the spot, e.g. "I once hitchhiked from Los Angeles to Las Vegas." They don't know that weekends are for cavorting with her coven, chanting the names of dark gods. But Abby craves the abyss.
