Today was supposed to be a life-changing day for Gregory. Finally, he would achieve his goal of becoming the ruler of the village. For years he had languished in jealous agony as his doddering father held power. The old man could barely string together a sentence in his later years. Gregory seethed inside knowing that he was beyond ready to assume power. As he approached the throne, however, a strange intense burning sensation overtook him. As the horrified crowd looked on, Gregory devolved into a pile of rocks. The universe would never allow such an unworthy soul to wield power.
