The Watchers were becoming a little on-the-nose with their reminders, Colin thought to himself, looking down at the eyes staring at him from the gravel walkway in front of his house. He'd been seeing the eyes for weeks now. Reminders that his kind should not mingle too closely with the humans. He was there to be an instrument of the Overmind: convenient hands at needful times. But he didn't care anymore. Alice was waiting for him inside. And he was in love. And, after fourteen thousand years, very horny. Tonight the watchers were really going to have something to watch.
