Jackal's 100-word story for June 23, 2025
Jackal wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 23, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Margaret despised how her yellow Easter dress looked on her. Her mother would make them all dress up for Easter Mass but Margaret and her little brother, Colin, hated it the most. Their mother loved to put them in the most ridiculous colors and would have so much lace and jewels added, they looked like Victorian disco balls. The attention was the worst part. All the kids would stare and whisper as the parents would fake a smile and tell us how great we looked. As if we couldn’t see their judgment. Our mother, however, could not. Or could she? ;)
