Francesca was nice. Liberto met her at Ray's, across the street from the Catholic school. She'd been reading Red Card Ranger #4 and ordered a meatball sub. He'd asked was she a fan; evidently, she'd never met another fan either. Then the sun was going down and Ray was saying hey, hello, I gotta go home sometime. Lunch lady at the school, Uber driver, tax preparer, dog walker, babysitter. In between the juggling, she went to beauty school and texted Liberto. Six months went by. She sent: we never meet up? Oh, he thought. Oh. 'You deserve a good guy.'
