Jackal's 100-word story for June 26, 2025

Jackal wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on June 26, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

I always knew this day would come. I thought I would have more time but kids really grow up fast these days. I remember children being so full of curiosity and wonder well until they went off to college. Now they are done playing in elementary school and have their faces in technology. Parents would rather have quiet children than happy children. The world forces our kids to stop dreaming, to stop imagining. Without toys and imagination, what happens to us? A world where a kid can’t just be a kid. That’s not a world I want to live in.
