Hide's 100-word story for July 1, 2025

Hide wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on July 1, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Seven hot air balloons. The yellow one contained his liver, kidneys, and entrails. The striped had his tongue, eyes, brain, and lungs. The diamond-patterned one held his skin, peeled in a neat pile. The highest one contained his flesh, stacked like rabbitmeat in the center of the basket. The rainbow one held his finger and toenails neatly spread. The lowest flying one held his testicles, ironically. The last one held his heart, much like his god used to do when he was alive. I watch my father take his last flight, faking sombriety well. Everything was going according to plan.
