Hide wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on April 23, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Brume Valley is a little town shrouded in mist and conformity. Each house lines up perfectly next to each tree next to each path. It’s the kind of town where everyone fits in. If you fit in, everyone likes you. And your house. And your dog. Everyone has the same dog. And if your dog goes missing in the mist, it doesn’t matter. He’ll find his way home, even if he acts a little different. And if you went missing, well. Your neighbor is just like you, so it doesn’t matter too much. Neighbors are better actors than dogs, anyways.
