My dreams of a life of piracy died that day. I had wanted to fly the Jolly Roger since I was a kid watching the tall ships sail into and out of the harbor where I grew up the son of a fishmonger. I grew up hating the smell of fish and longing for the feeling of the ocean winds on my face. My friends and I would spend hours talking about a life of robbery and avarice on the open sea. Finally, we stole a sloop and set sail. Unfortunately, none of us actually knew *how* to sail. Details.
