They open that window every day so I can see the sea. On a clear day, I can see the island where we used to play when I was younger. We would boat out, our arms struggling against the calm of the sea, and lie panting on the beach before breaking into our meager picnics and running around like the world didn't exist outside of those sands. They leave it open because they know I can't leave this bed, but I can. I can stare out across the waters and soar on memories, at least the ones I still have.
