Jackal's 100-word story for July 7, 2025

Jackal wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on July 7, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Fredrick and Eleanor woke up to the warm crisp air of the sea below. This was the first vacation they’ve been able to take since they had a child 15 years ago. Their kid, although completely capable of surviving on their own, has some, let’s say “daddy issues”… Ok… fine…. basically, Victor is a menace and still throws tantrums, especially when Fredrick leaves. However, Victor has become entranced with his new piano teacher allowing them to escape for the weekend. As they sat up and started looking outside, they thought about what it would be like to never return home.
