Gray's 100-word story for July 9, 2025

Gray wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on July 9, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

Iggy turns to stare at a bust of some medieval lady, limned in holy white under dirty windows. Liberto scans spines; Q... R. One tattered copy. The Art of Red Card Ranger. The only book with concept art of Knee Pad Ninja when they called him 'Roller Blade Boy.' Goes for five hundred on eBay. Doesn't matter. He'll stash it under the basement cement, then be buried with it. Pulls it down, slips it into his bag. "I'd be a polymath saint, too, if I was stuck in a convent." Iggy shakes his head. "Whatever, man," Liberto says. "Let's go."
