The great Shh-ing war of 1967 had laid waste to libraries across the land. Banned books weren’t banned for controversial content, but instead for weight and how likely you were to get a paper cut. Battles were waged in complete silence, with fallen soldiers muffling their dying gasps. Only the quietest guns were drawn, equipped with triple silencers. Who were the two sides, and what were they fighting for? Historians have puzzled over this complicated question, fraught with geopolitical nuance. The simple answer? There isn’t one. For the complicated, unflinching answers, buy my book, The Great Shhing war of 1967.
