Gray's 100-word story for July 11, 2025
Gray wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on July 11, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
"Where are you--" his mother leans out the window into the warm breeze, eyes wide, watching Benny walk barefoot down the stairs of their new house and through scrub grass. "He would never," she tells Jim, her words floating to Benny's ears. He squints against the gritty sand feeling. True, he would never. But here, on the beach, is Seaweeds Georg. Georg had been someone's pet, had also been forced to move north. Turtles and tortoises are his special interest. Who else could understand what it's like when everyone wants you to shed a shell that's part of your body?
