Hide's 100-word story for July 12, 2025

Daedalus’s automatons had gotten progressively more complex, but they had also gotten unpredictable. Hounds, eagles, pegasi, - all seemed to share his errant behavior. It was normal to hear cursing and a metallic (yet unmistakably alive) cry before bludgeoning metal outside his workshop. Daedalus, driven mad by guilt, was determined to build a creature that could find Icarus and save him. He convinced himself that he hadn’t seen his son’s broken, mangled body on the rocks. That the perfect machine could bring him back. The insanity came to an end when he was kicked in the head by his own pegasus.
