Another year, another season of wildfires. This time was our turn, I guess. We hadn't had a wildfire in nine or ten years. I wasn't really worried about the pecan grove. Old trees like that usually bounce back from a scorching pretty well. But we were probably going to lose the barn and a few other outbuildings. I just hope the winds don't shift direction again. We had a pretty good firebreak dug around the house, but an unlucky shift and the fire might jump the line. Then all bets are off. I won't get much sleep tonight, I'm afraid.
