Her name was Charity. She loved the sea, the sunsets, the seashell collecting time. She would often have her "me time"— looking for only one to two "best-looking seashells"— lasting hours, sometimes until dinnertime. But I believed what she loved most was her family. Because of an ambitious career change for me, Charity and our daughters moved from the sunny Burbank, California to the gloomy skies of Seattle, Washington. Her eyes looked like she lost something important. She no longer dolled up or smiled. One late December night, I came home to a note: "I'm going to collect seashells. -C"
