We don't talk about the boy on the dock. If we see him, we find something else to do. When Daddy first seen him fishing, he said the boy called him, said "come fish", said the boy sounded just like Uncle Pete. But Pete's been in the ground forty years now. Daddy went down there, said he was gonna tell him to leave. Now Daddy's in the ground too. Drowned, but the coroner got drunk once and said Daddy was gutted. Like a fish. He looked at me once. His eyes were all wrong. Now we just leave him be.
