Healing isn't linear. Yesterday, I finally felt like I could return to my old self, but now I'm deep in the trenches again. I dragged my empty body towards the wooden chair in the garden. *** "Rose seeds?" Amelia exclaimed in pleasant surprise. "Because I know you love roses. If you plant them here, you can have a whole garden of roses to your name," I said as I blanketed the seeds before Amelia's curious eyes. *** The garden didn't make it, and neither did she. I stare at the empty soil. A single sprout comes through. Gasp. I cherish it endlessly.
