Blue curtains. That was Mitchell’s one act of rebellion in his life. The apartment the company him in was one of hundreds in a single building, cookie-cutter replicas of each other, identically furnished, advertised as ‘no-nonsense, decision-free, corporate living.’ Mitchell hated it. After a month it began to fell like a prison cell. He would encounter fellow inmates in the hall or in the elevator, and all had that same resigned look on their faces, like their faces were a mirror to his soul. So, blue curtains. That would set him apart. Too bad none of them could see it.
