thaopixelpoet's 100-word story for July 30, 2025
thaopixelpoet wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on July 30, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.
Kaleen sits down with her cafe pager, waiting for her decaf soy caramel macchiato with two pumps of vanilla, extra hot, no foam. The sleek, slim-armrest chairs are made of 100% organic elk wood, completing the minimalist palette of the moonstone beige blank wall. Baristas look too busy with their phones to bother. Kaleen pretended to journal, but she was just waiting for the light to hit her biodegradable plastic cup right for a few Instagram photos. People don’t come here to drink coffee. They come here to be seen drinking coffee while scrolling. Kaleen isn't even her real name.
