thaopixelpoet's 100-word story for August 1, 2025

thaopixelpoet wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on August 1, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

I remember vividly the late night rock shows on Fridays, when I still had the Saturday shift to cover at 7/Eleven but I didn't care. I remember how I melted into the crowds, how the spotlights turned into rainbow kaleidoscopes, dyeing the stage and my chest, my bones rumbling to every beat, how the lead singer tossed his bandana for freer headbanging. "Free"... maybe that's the word, the feeling, the dream I once had. Now, I stood on the edge of an old bridge by an unnamed countryside. The heavy mist covered my view, but that's for the best.
