"I'm not going over there. You crazy?" She looked at me like I was the crazy one. Then at the bridge, straining to see the far end. "Why? It's just fog." I shoved my hands in my pockets and put on my most stubborn expression. "Not going. You shouldn't, either." No reason for her to trust me on this. We'd only met two days earlier approaching the same wrecked car. Rather than fight over it, we'd decided to split the salvage. Then we heard the now-familiar scraping noises from the other end. She nodded. "You're right. Let's find another way."
