magisternihil's 100-word story for August 2, 2025

Lawrence hated jobs where he had to wear glasses. Still, he knew the whole “Clark Kent effect” was a real thing, and anyone who dealt with him would remember the glasses, and the missing tooth, more than other features. He checked the squib. It was Anthony’s genius idea to add the victim to the ruse. Anthony was in charge, Rex was the muscle, Gerry saw to the safe, and Vic drove them away when it was said and done. Lawrence just had to be “shot” as an example. Easy money. He just hoped Anthony remembered which was the fake gun.
