“We need to talk about your brother.” Sophie looked up from her book at her husband, who stood wringing his hands at the foot of the bed. “Why? Did he say something?” “He’s in the back yard barking and howling,” said Edward. “What will the neighbors think?” Sophie set her book down, sliding out of bed. He caressed Edward’s cheek as she walked and opened the window. “Rex? Knock it off, buddy. Good boy!” she said, and she closed the window. “Edward, I think it’s time I told you about the time my brother was bitten by a strange dog.”
