thaopixelpoet's 100-word story for August 5, 2025

The wooden clips for hanging clothes stayed on the hanging lines. Still. At stake. Sinking into oblivion. Their dead limps pointed straight down to Hell. Like the legs of pirates serving their Day of Judgement. A single rusty, blackened, curled strand of metal traced the length of the wooden clip, piercing through its hardened skin, forever leaving lockjaw bacteria in its presence. The wooden clip's head, when closed left a hole in which the metal wire threaded through, easy like a needle. If one was forgotten long enough, the muscle would weaken and rot away until the body fell down.
