On a windy afternoon, the clothesline danced wildly in the backyard of an old rundown house, but the pegs held firm. Each wooden peg gripped a sock and a shirt. One peg, cracked from its years of use then it finally snapped. The sock flew into the garden. The other pegs didn’t flinch. They held the line, literally. That evening, the broken peg was replaced. But the others remained. The old couple was used to replacing the pegs as they have lived there for many years, their life no longer the fun it was now all that remained was duty.
