There it stood, his nemesis. He glanced over at Lucy and wondered what her face would look like when she was filled with disappointment. He remembered last year when Carla Mathers laughed at him, called him chicken for not wanting to go on the one ride that was clearly designed as a death trap. “There’s the Ferris wheel,” he said, waiting for the squeal of glee. “Hell no,” Lucy said. “No way I’m going on that horrible thing!” She took a step back shaking her head. He smiled and took her hand. This would be a good night after all.
