Open memories empty memories Grandma's laugh and burned french toast Johnny Carson on the black and white static waking me from irresistible sleep they say when she died she was all alone no one came by no one took care of her she was only found because the FedEx guy saw her through the window lifeless on the floor overwhelmed with guilt I blamed myself though I was not to know people drift apart lives change and then lives end and everyone left behind is left to wonder why was I not there more filling the space with wonderous words
