Hide's 100-word story for August 9, 2025

Hide wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on August 9, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

It’s been a while since you’ve been home. Everything’s fallen apart without you, including the dusty skeletons holding hands on the sofa. Have a seat, if you can. I’ll scramble you some eggs. What am I still doing here? Waiting for you, of course. It was the last thing Mother and Father asked me to do. Well, that and to stop stabbing them. But look! We can finally be a happy family again. Here’s your eggs. I dropped a few shells in there, so don’t worry if you feel crunching. Mother and Father will be so happy to see you.
