“Did you remember everything?” asked Bill’s brain. “I have my keys, my wallet, my briefcase,” answered Bill. “Okay, what else?” Bill grumbled. “The car has gas. I have that letter that needs mailing. My glasses are on my face.” “Aaaaaaaand?” “I answered the email. I closed the dog in her crate. I ate breakfast.” Bill’s brain cleared its metaphorical throat. “AND?” “Good grief, what else is there? Look, I don’t have time for this.” He put the car in reverse and backed out of the drive, groaning as his coffee mug slid off the hood and crashed to the ground.
