Sister Gretchen waited, her work-worn fingers carefully laid atop the Book. The child was late again, and the corners of her mouth twitched downward, deepening her frown. Third time this week. Not that she had much else to do. Caring for the young master was her only responsibility now, since his parents had passed, and her own friends and family had been gone for years. But he needs to learn respect. Across the train station, she finally saw him, saw the apologetic look on his face, his smile warming her heart for a moment. But no, she must be stern.
