The bar was 1969. Best Negroni Sbagliato in town. I had no expectations of the night, and that was when the greatest things happened. Brunette. Dark blue cocktail dress. Legs. Probably high. “O Sol Nascerá.” She pulled me in for a samba. Her stars-and-moon face stickers blended in with her shimmery dust yellow eye shadow like bold acrylic strokes. As a hopeless romantic, I leaned in for a kiss when the song ended. She squeezed her cheeks together with her right hand and made crossed-eyes. I couldn’t stop laughing. I want to know her. But I never saw her again.
