Hide's 100-word story for August 17, 2025

Hide wrote the following micro-story on Hectalex on August 17, 2025. Each story on Hectalex is inspired by a daily visual prompt and must be exactly 100 words.

The neighborhood goblins keep stealing my pants. I think they think it’s a game? Like some hide-and-seek thing except I’m miserable the whole time? I don’t mean goblins like, children, by the way. Actual goblins. I see them sometimes, when they think I’m sleeping. They started by taking my socks, now they’ve graduated to pants and gardening gloves. At first I was just annoyed, but now it’s getting scary. Mostly because I hear them whisper “it’s your skin, next,” when I lie awake at night. Is that concerning? Anyways, you’ve seen my pants, right? It’s getting a little chilly out.
